Dr. Ioannis Konaxis is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Tourism Studies at the University of Piraeus. Holds a diploma of Architecture Engineering and a PhD in Landscape and Environment from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’.

His teaching experience abroad focuses on Sustainable Tourism in the Postgraduate Program of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (MAP-UPC) in Barcelona (2018) and in the Inter-university Postgraduate Program ‘Master in Landscape Design (PdP)’ in Rome, of UNISCAPE (European Network of Universities), CURSA (University Consortium for Socio-economic Research and the Environment) and the Cultural Association “Architect Simonetta Bastelli” (2017-2020). In Greece, he has taught courses on Spatial Planning and Urban Regeneration in the Master’s Program of Studies of the University of Thessaly “Urban Regeneration, Urban Development and Real Estate Market” of the Department of Spatial Planning, Urban Planning and Regional Development Engineering (2020,2021). At the Undergraduate Level of Studies he has taught courses of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Piraeus (2022, 2023, 2024).

His scientific and research interests are focused in the scientific fields of Sustainable Tourism, landscape and environment planning and management with an emphasis on protected areas (Natura 2000, Unesco Cultural Heritage list), the spatial integration of tourist products as well as the formation of tourist identity (Branding) targeted areas.

He has scientific publications in International Scientific Journals and Proceedings of Conferences and is the author of the book entitled ‘Cultural Landscapes and Ecotourism’ (published by: Franco Angeli, 2018).

Assistant Professor Dr. Ioannis Konaxis has many years of professional experience as a Management Consultant of a four star Hotel Unit as well as a Consultant of a company with a dynamic network in the rental of properties for tourist exploitation and provision of tourist services.
