Vima Virtual Machines

Vima Virtual Machines

The ViMa service provides access to shared computing and network resources, which can be used for hosting production services or for experimental purposes. The service is addressed to the Network Operations Centres (NOCs) of the institutions associated with the GRNET, or to laboratories participating in national or European-funded projects and having short-term computing resource needs.

In order to ensure high availability, the service is hosted on a blade cluster and an external SAN is used for secure data storage. The network infrastructure ensures a seamless connection to the backbone network and to the commercial internet at very high speeds.

The service is accompanied by a range of services tailored to the specific needs of its potential users. Users can assign IP addresses of their institutions to virtual machines using L2VPN, while IPv6 addresses can be assigned at the same time.
