VPN Connection

The VPN (Virtual Private Network) service is offered to the teaching staff, the members of the Scientific and Technical Staff, the administrative staff, doctoral candidates, postgraduate and undergraduate students of the University of Piraeus.
It enables these users, when connected to the Internet through alternative providers, to access services that are available exclusively through the institution’s network, such as using library subscriptions to access electronic journals and articles. By using the VPN service, a secure communication channel is created between the user’s computer and the institution’s network, through which all network traffic for that computer passes, and the user’s computer obtains an IP address originating from the University of Piraeus network.
To connect to the service you need:
- A personal computer with an internet connection through an alternative provider.
- An institutional account (username and password) provided by the University of Piraeus.
- The appropriate login software depending on the type of your operating system.
Instructions for undergraduate students
Windows x86 (32-bit): download the application
Windows Vista/7/8 x64 (64-bit): download the application
Windows 10: Install the Cisco AnyConnect app from https://studentsvpn.unipi.gr. Once installed, open it and log in at: studentsvpn.unipi.gr. Then select the group: studentsvpn-anyconnect and enter your details.
Macintosh: Configure the macOS built-in VPN driver with the following settings
Interface: VPN
VPN Type: Cisco IPSec
Server Address: 195.251.224.73
Account Name: your username
Password: your password
Authentication Settings :
Shared Secret and Group Name: studentsvpn
GNU/Linux-x86 : Download the application
GNU/Linux-x86 64-bit: Download the application
Note: The username and password have been provided by the secretariat of each department and are the same as those used in the students.unipi.gr application.

Note: For postgraduate students and doctoral candidates the username and password have been provided by the departmental secretariat and are the same as those used in the students.unipi.gr application. For any other category of user, the username and password correspond to the mail details provided by the University of Piraeus.
