Θέση. Ο Μπερσίμης Σωτήριος είναι Καθηγητής του Τμήματος Οργάνωσης και Διοίκησης Επιχειρήσεων του Πανεπιστήμιου Πειραιώς, εκλεγμένο μέλος του Διοικητικού Συμβουλίου του Ελληνικού Στατιστικού Ινστιτούτου και εκλεγμένο μέλος του International Statistical Institute. Εκπροσωπεί το Ελληνικό Στατιστικό Ινστιτούτου στο Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FenStats) καθώς και στο European Courses in Advanced Statistics (ECAS). Παράλληλα, ανήκει στο συνεργαζόμενο εκπαιδευτικό προσωπικό του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου (ΕΑΠ). Επίσης, είναι μέλος της επιτροπής κρίσεων του διαγωνισμού “i-bank Καινοτομία και Τεχνολογία” της Εθνικής Τράπεζας της Ελλάδος.

Προηγούμενες Θέσεις. Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς υπηρετεί από το 2010. Κατά την περίοδο 6ος/2010 έως 4ος/2022 υπηρέτησε στις βαθμίδες του Λέκτορα, του Επίκουρου Καθηγητή και του Αναπληρωτή στο Τμήμα Στατιστικής και Ασφαλιστικής Επιστήμης του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς. Επιπλέον, κατά την περίοδο 9ος/2020 έως 4ος/2022 διατέλεσε μέλος της Συγκλήτου του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς και Πρόεδρος του Τμήματος Στατιστικής και Ασφαλιστικής Επιστήμης.

Σπουδές. Σπούδασε Στατιστική σε προπτυχιακό και μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Πειραιώς και στο Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών, αντίστοιχα. Η διδακτορική του μελέτη υποστηρίχθηκε από την Γενική Γραμματεία Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας (ΓΓΕΤ) στα πλαίσια του ερευνητικού προγράμματος ΠΕΝΕΔ 2001, ενώ έλαβε υποτροφία από το Ίδρυμα Κρατικών Υποτροφιών (ΙΚΥ) για μεταδιδακτορική έρευνα. Διαθέτει πιστοποιημένες γνώσεις στη “Διοίκηση της Έρευνας, της Τεχνολογίας και της Καινοτομίας” από το Εθνικό Μετσόβειο Πολυτεχνείο και εξειδίκευση σε μια σειρά από αντικείμενα όπως “Διοίκηση, Marketing και Επικοινωνία” συμμετέχοντας σε εκπαιδευτικά προγράμματα χρηματοδοτούμενα από την Ευρωπαική Ένωση.

Διδακτικό Έργο. Στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς διδάσκει “Επιχειρηματική Αναλυτική” (Μεταπτυχιακό), “Επιχειρηματική Αναλυτική” (Προπτυχιακό), “Μηχανική Μάθηση και Τεχνητή Νοημοσύνη στην Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων” (Προπτυχιακό) και “Στατιστική για Διοίκηση Επιχειρήσεων” (Προπτυχιακό). Στο παρελθόν έχει διδάξει αντίστοιχα μαθήματα στο τμήμα Στατιστικής και Ασφαλιστικής Επιστήμης, στο τμήμα Οικονομικής Επιστήμης και στο τμήμα Βιομηχανικής Διοίκησης & Τεχνολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς (“Στατιστική”, “Στατιστικό Έλεγχο Ποιότητας”, “Απαραμετρική Στατιστική”, “Εισαγωγή στις Πιθανότητες και τη Στατιστική”, “Βιοστατιστική”, “Βιοστατιστική και Επιδημιολογία” (Μεταπτυχιακό), “Κλινικές Δοκιμές” (Μεταπτυχιακό), “Επιχειρησιακή Έρευνα και Στρατηγικό Σχεδιασμό για Επιχειρήσεις” (Μεταπτυχιακό), “Επιχειρηματική Ευφυία & Επιχειρηματική Αναλυτική” (Μεταπτυχιακό), “Στατιστική Μηχανική Μάθηση” (Μεταπτυχιακό)). Εκτός του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς έχει διδάξει βάσει του ΠΔ 407/80, σε προπτυχιακό ή/και μεταπτυχιακό επίπεδο, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών (Τμήματα Ιατρικής και Βιολογίας), στο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλίας, στο Πανεπιστήμιο Στερεάς Ελλάδας, στο Χαροκόπειο Πανεπιστήμιο, στο Πάντειο Πανεπιστήμιο (Τμήμα Κοινωνικής Πολιτικής), κ.α. Παράλληλα, ανήκει στο συνεργαζόμενο εκπαιδευτικό προσωπικό του Ελληνικού Ανοικτού Πανεπιστημίου (ΕΑΠ) από το έτος 2006, διδάσκοντας εξειδικευμένα θέματα στο μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα σπουδών στην “Διαχείριση και Τεχνολογία Ποιότητας”. Έχει διδάξει σε μεγάλο αριθμό σεμιναρίων επαγγελματικής επιμόρφωσης και κατάρτισης. Επίσης, έχει επιβλέψει μεγάλο αριθμό μεταπτυχιακών φοιτητών καθώς και την μεταδιδακτορική έρευνα έμπειρων ερευνητών. Σήμερα επιβλέπει την διδακτορική έρευνα 6 υποψήφιων διδακτόρων.

Συγγραφικό Έργο. Έχει συγγράψει 8 βιβλία στην Ελληνική με αντικείμενα την Εφαρμοσμένη Στατιστική και την Στατιστική Μηχανική Μάθηση με χρήση των γλωσσών προγραμματισμού R & Python και του IBM SPSS Statistics, τον Στατιστικό Έλεγχο Διεργασιών, την Εφαρμοσμένη Στατιστική στις Επιστήμες Υγείας, τα Μαθηματικά, και την Πληροφορική.

Ερευνητικά Ενδιαφέροντα. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα σχετίζονται κύρια με την ανάπτυξη και εφαρμογή στοχαστικών μοντέλων επίβλεψης και ελέγχου διεργασιών, με την ανάπτυξη και εφαρμογή τεχνικών αναλυτικής των δεδομένων και στατιστικής μηχανικής μάθησης στην Ασφάλιση, στην Υγεία και στην Βιομηχανία καθώς και με τη θεωρία ροών, συναρτήσεων σάρωσης και σχηματισμών (με έμφαση στις εφαρμογές της στην βιομηχανία, στην ασφάλιση και στην υγεία).

Επιστημονικές Δημοσιεύσεις. Έχει συγγράψει περισσότερα από 80 επιστημονικά άρθρα τα οποία έχουν δημοσιευθεί (ή έχουν υποβληθεί προς δημοσιεύση) σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά (μεταξύ των άλλων για τα Statistics in Medicine, Biometrical Journal, Statistics in Biosciences, Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics, Statistical Papers, Quality Technology and Quantitative Management, Journal of Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, European Journal of Operational Research, Journal of Quality Technology, Methodology and Computing in Applied Probability, Journal of Multivariate Analysis, Annals of the Institute of Statistical Mathematics, Statistical Methods and Applications, Journal of Applied Statistics, Communications in Statistics) ή σε διεθνείς επιστημονικούς τόμους ή σε διεθνή συνέδρια με κρίση. Επιπλέον, 16 εργασίες του δημοσιεύθηκαν στα πρακτικά πανελληνίων συνεδρίων ύστερα από κρίση. Ακόμα, περισσότερες από 150 εργασίες του παρουσιάσθηκαν σε διεθνή και πανελλήνια επιστημονικά συνέδρια (περισσότερες από 105 σε διεθνή συνέδρια). Τέλος, οι ετεροαναφορές στο δημοσιευμένο έργο του στη διεθνή βιβλιογραφία είναι περισσότερες από 2200 (περισσότερες από 910 την τελευταία 5ετία) και ο δείκτης h-index των ετεροαναφορών είναι 21 ενώ ο δείκτης i10-index των ετεροαναφορών είναι 33 (Google Scholar,2ος/2024, GSP).

Το δημοσιευμένο άρθρο του, στο διεθνές περιοδικό “Quality and Reliability Engineering International” της Wiley, με τίτλο “Multivariate Statistical Process Control Charts: An Overview” αποτελεί το άρθρο του εν λόγω περιοδικού που έχει λάβει τις περισσότερες αναφορές κατά την τελευταία 3ετία σύμφωνα με το CrossRef ενώ αποτελεί και ένα από τα άρθρα με την μεγαλύτερη επηρροή στην ευρύτερη περιοχή του Στατιστικού Ελέγχου Διεργασιών (περισσότερες από 825 αναφορές σύμφωνα με το Google Scholar, 12/2023). Το εν λόγω άρθρο υπήρξε αποτέλεσμα της μεταπτυχιακής διπλωματικής του εργασίας με τίτλο “Multivariate Statistical Process Control Charts”.

Ταυτόχρονα, έχει κρίνει εργασίες για περισσότερα από 50 διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά (μεταξύ των άλλων, Technometrics, Methodology and Computing in Applied Probability, Australian & New Zealand Journal of Statistics, Statistical Papers, Quality Technology and Quantitative Management, International Journal of Statistics and Management System, Journal of Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Sankhya B, Journal of Official Statistics, European Journal of Operational Research, Operational Research, Operational Research Society, Journal of Computational Economics and Econometrics, International Journal of Production Research, Journal of Quality Technology, Statistics in Medicine, Communications in Statistics, Soft Computing, Computers & Industrial Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, Interactive Learning Environments, Royal Society Open Science, BMC Research Notes, BMC Medical Research Methodology) και περισσότερα από 20 διεθνή και πανελλήνια συνέδρια. Έχει επιτελέσει guest editor σε τεύχος του διεθνούς επιστημονικού περιοδικού Quality Technology and Quantitative Management ενώ σήμερα είναι guest editor σε τεύχος της διεθνούς σειράς επιστημονικών βιβλίων Advanced Research in Reliability and System Assurance Engineering.

Διεθνής Επιστημονική Δραστηριότητα. Είναι μέλος σε πολλές διεθνείς επιστημονικές ενώσεις, μεταξύ των οποίων της International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics (ISBIS), του European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS), της American Society for Quality (ASQ) και από τον Ιούλιο του 2018 είναι εκλεγμένο μέλος (elected member) του International Statistical Institute (ISI).

Ερευνητικά Έργα. Για την περίοδο 2014-2015 έλαβε χρηματοδότηση έρευνας στο πλαίσιο του προγράμματος ΑΡΙΣΤΕΙΑ ΙΙ της Γενικής Γραμματείας Έρευνας και Τεχνολογίας. Στο πλαίσιο του έργου δημιούργησε την ομάδα έρευνας “PROCESS MONITORING GROUP” (PMG) με στόχο την ανάπτυξη της έρευνας στο συγκεκριμένο τομέα. Για την περίοδο 2014-2015 ήταν επιστημονικά υπεύθυνος της ομάδας ανάπτυξης «Μοντέλου Εκτίμησης των Δαπανών Υγείας στην Ελλάδα για το 2020-2040» στο πλαίσιο του έργου «Εκπόνηση Στρατηγικής για την Γήρανση του Πληθυσμού, σε Εθνικό, Περιφερειακό και Τοπικό Επίπεδο» που χρηματοδοτείται από το Υπουργείο Ανάπτυξης. Επιπλέον, έχει συμμετάσχει σε μεγάλο αριθμό χρηματοδοτούμενων ερευνητικών προγραμμάτων ενώ παράλληλα έχει υποβάλλει πληθώρα ερευνητικών προτάσεων σε εθνικά και ευρωπαικά προγράμματα.

Επιστημονικές Συνεργασίες. Στο πλαίσιο της ερευνητικής του δραστηριότητας έχει συνεργαστεί με μεγάλο αριθμό κλινικών και νοσοκομείων, ιατρικών επιστημονικών εταιρειών, φαρμακευτικών εταιρειών, κτλ. Μεταξύ άλλων, έχει συνεργαστεί με τη μονάδα ειδικών λοιμώξεων – AIDS του νοσοκομείου Ανδρέας Συγγρός, την Α’ και Β’ γυναικολογική κλινική του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών, το κέντρο διακοπής καπνίσματος του Ευγενίδιου θεραπευτηρίου, την ενδοκρινολογική μονάδα του Λαϊκού νοσοκομείου, το ιατρείο υπέρτασης του νοσοκομείου Ευαγγελισμός, τη μικροβιολογική μονάδα του Αρεταίειου νοσοκομείου, την Ιατρική Εταιρεία Αθηνών, την Ελληνική Νεφρολογική Εταιρεία, κ.α.

Παράλληλα για περισσότερο από 15 έτη είναι συνεργαζόμενο μέλος του Computational Genetics Research Group (compgen.org) το οποίο έχει ως σκοπό την έρευνα στον τομέα της ανάλυσης βιολογικών ακολουθιών (DNA, RNA, proteins, κ.α) με χρήση υπολογιστικών και στατιστικών μεθόδων (πρόβλεψη της δομής πρωτεινικών δομών, ανάπτυξη στοχαστικών μοντέλων για την ανάλυση βιολογικών ακολουθιών, μεγάλης κλίμακας ανάλυση γονιδιομάτων, ανάπτυξη μεθόδων για την γενετική συνάφεια, κ.α.).

Επιπλέον, στο πλαίσιο της δραστηριότητας του έχει συνεργαστεί με μεγάλο αριθμών βιομηχανιών (ΒΙΟΛΕΞ BIC, ΒΙΑΝΕΞ, κ.α.).

Διοργάνωση Συνεδρίων. Το 2018 διοργάνωσε το διεθνές συνέδριο (επικεφαλής της οργανωτικής και της επιστημονικής επιτροπής) της International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics για το 2018 (ISBIS2018) στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς (4 – 6 Ιουλίου 2018). Προηγούμενα διοργάνωσε (επικεφαλής της οργανωτικής επιτροπής) τα διεθνή συνέδρια Applied Stochastic Models and Data Analysis το 2015 και International Symposium on Statistical Process Control το 2013 (ISSPC2013) στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς. Ακόμα ήταν μέλος της οργανωτικής ή/και της επιστημονικής επιτροπής σε περισσότερα από 20 διεθνή ή πανελλήνια συνέδρια (ενδεικτικά, μέλος της οργανωτικής επιτροπής του διεθνούς συνεδρίου 28th European Meeting of Statisticians το 2010, του 26ου, του 27ου και του 28ου Πανελλήνιου Συνέδριου Στατιστικής του Ελληνικού Στατιστικού Ινστιτούτου, μέλος της επιστημονικής επιτροπής του διεθνούς συνεδρίου SMTDA2018, του διεθνούς συνεδρίου ISSPM2015, του διεθνούς συνεδρίου ISSPM2017, του διεθνούς συνεδρίου ISSPM2019, του 29ου, του 30ου και του του 31ου Πανελλήνιου Συνέδριου Στατιστικής του Ελληνικού Στατιστικού Ινστιτούτου). Επιπλέον, έχει οργανώσει συνεδρίες ειδικού ενδιαφέροντος σε πολλά διεθνή (μεταξύ αυτών και του 62nd ISI World Statistics Congress που έγινε στην Kuala Lumpur της Μαλαισίας το 2019) και πανελλήνια συνέδρια, έχει δώσει σειρά προσκεκλημένων ομιλιών σε διεθνή και πανελλήνια συνέδρια καθώς και σε πανεπιστήμια του εξωτερικού. Συμμετείχε 8 με 10 Ιουνίου του 2016 στο συνέδριο της International Society for Business and Industrial Statistics παρουσιάζοντας την εργασία “Performance Monitoring and Competence Assessment in Health Services” και επιλέχθηκε από την επιστημονική επιτροπή προκειμένου να συγγράψει discussion paper για το διεθνές περιοδικό Applied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry με θέμα την αξιοποίηση των μεθόδων της στατιστικής και των μεθόδων της επιχειρηματικής αναλυτικής, στην διοίκηση οργανισμών υγείας καθώς και στον καθορισμό πολιτικών/στρατηγικών για την Υγεία. Τέλος, έχει αναλάβει τη διοργάνωση του συνεδρίου του European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics για το έτος 2025 (επικεφαλής της οργανωτικής επιτροπής).

Διοργάνωση Ημερίδων. Τον Οκτώβριο του 2020 διοργάνωσε την επιστημονική ημερίδα με θέμα «Data Analytics and Machine Learning for Insurance Fraud Detection», υπό την αιγίδα του Συνδέσμου Ελλήνων Μεσιτών Ασφαλίσεων (ΣΕΜΑ) και της Ένωσης Ασφαλιστικών Εταιρειών Ελλάδας (ΕΑΕΕ). Βασικός σκοπός της ημερίδας ήταν τόσο η επίτευξη έγκυρης επιστημονικής ενημέρωσης των συμμετεχόντων όσο και η συνεισφορά στη θωράκιση των ιδιωτικών και δημόσιων οργανισμών απέναντι στον κίνδυνο της απάτης, προάγοντας την αντίληψη υγιούς και επικερδούς επιχειρηματικότητας, στοιχείο ζωτικής σημασίας για την επίτευξη της οικονομικής ανάκαμψης της χώρας. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό, οι λήπτες αποφάσεων της ασφαλιστικής αγοράς ενημερώθηκαν για τις δυνατότητες που δίνουν τα Data Analytics και το Machine Learning στην ανίχνευση της ασφαλιστικής απάτης. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση θα δοθεί στον κλάδο της υγείας. Τον Ιούνιο του 2019 διοργάνωσε επιστημονική ημερίδα με αντίστοιχη θεματολογία. Το 2013 συμμετείχε στην οργανωτική επιτροπή της ημερίδας με θέμα: «Δημιουργία Γνώσης μέσα από τη συνέργεια Δημόσιων Φορέων, Δυνατότητες και Προοπτικές» στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς.

Διοργάνωση Σχολείων. Διατέλεσε μέλος της επιτροπής που διοργάνωσε το θερινό σχολείο “Αξιοπιστία και Στατιστικός Έλεγχος Ποιότητας” την περίοδο Ιουνίου-Ιουλίου 2016 στο Καρλόβασι της Σάμου.

Εκπαιδευτικές Πλατφόρμες. Από το 2006 έχει αναπτύξει το εκπαιδευτικό portal Learn-Biostatistics.gr το οποίο απευθύνεται σε επιστήμονες της Υγείας έχοντας ως σκοπό να τους εισάγει στις έννοιες και στις μεθόδους της Στατιστικής καθώς και στη χρήση τους στην Υγεία (Learn-Biostatistics). Την περίοδο 2019-23 αναπτύσσει το εκπαιδευτικό portal Learn-DataScience.gr το οποίο απευθύνεται κατά κύριο λόγο σε στελέχη και επαγγελματίες όλων των κλάδων της οικονομίας και δευτερευόντως σε φοιτητές έχοντας ως σκοπό να τους δώσει τις απαραίτητες γνώσεις της Αναλυτικής των Δεδομένων και της Στατιστικής Μηχανικής Μάθησης, με χρήση των γλωσσών προγραμματισμού Python και R καθώς και με χρήση των πακέτων αναλυτικής των δεδομένων της IBM, IBM SPSS Statistics & IBM SPSS Modeler.

Θέσεις στο Δημόσιο Τομέα. Από τις 15 Δεκεμβρίου του 2015 έως τις 25 Ιανουαρίου 2019, υπηρέτησε στη θέση του Προέδρου του Εθνικού Οργανισμού Παροχής Υπηρεσιών Υγείας (ΕΟΠΥΥ), ενός Οργανισμού με προϋπολογισμό περίπου 5,5 δισ.€, με περίπου 1.500 εργαζόμενους, με περισσότερα από 100 σημεία εξυπηρέτησης και με περισσότερους από 40.000 συμβεβλημένους παρόχους, ο οποίος αποζημιώνει υπηρεσίες υγείας, αναλώσιμα και ιατροτεχνολογικά είδη για το σύνολο των πολιτών της χώρας. Παράλληλα, υπήρξε μέλος του Κεντρικού Συμβουλίου Υγείας (ΚΕΣΥ), της επιτροπής για την Ηλεκτρονική Υγεία και της επιτροπής για την Ανάπτυξη της Ελληνικής Φαρμακοβιομηχανίας ενώ παράλληλα συμμετείχε ως ομιλητής σε συνέδρια και διεθνείς συναντήσεις για θέματα Υγείας, Ηλεκτρονικής Διακυβέρνησης, Οικονομικών και Οργάνωσης Υπηρεσιών Υγείας (ενδεικτικά, συμμετείχε ως προσκλεκλημένος ομιλητής στο συνέδριο “20th Roundtable with the Government of Greece” του “The Economist” που πραγματοποιήθηκε 22-23 Ιουνίου του 2016 στην Ελλάδα).

Κατά τη θητεία του εισηγήθηκε στα αρμόδια όργανα τη χρήση στατιστικής μεθοδολογίας για τον εντοπισμό και την αποτροπή της παραβατικής συμπεριφοράς εκ μέρους των παρόχων υπηρεσιών υγείας, για την εκκαθάριση δαπανών υγείας, για την ενοποίηση των rebates των φαρμακευτικών εταιρειών σε μια εξίσωση (γνωστή και ως πολυώνυμο Μπερσίμη). Παράλληλα, σε όλες τις διοικητικές δράσεις του Οργανισμού, εφάρμoσε στοιχεία στατιστικής και επιχειρησιακής αναλυτικής με κύριο στόχο τη συνολική βιωσιμότητα του συστήματος προς όφελος όλων των εμπλεκομένων και κυρίως των πολιτών. Η αύξηση του ορίου δαπανών για παροχές στους πολίτες (από 1,402 δισ. το 2016 σε 1,525 δισ. το 2017), η πρώτη αύξηση σε όριο δαπανών μετά την είσοδο της χώρας σε πρόγραμμα επιτήρησης, προέκυψε με την άψογη τεκμηρίωση της αναγκαιότητας, με αδιάσειστα στοιχεία που προέκυψαν από την σε βάθος ανάλυση των δεδομένων του Οργανισμού. Η εν λόγω ενέργεια, αύξησε το βαθμό κάλυψης των αυξημένων αναγκών των πολιτών και αποτέλεσε παράδειγμα καλής εφαρμογής στατιστικών και γενικότερα αναλυτικών μεθόδων στην διοίκηση Οργανισμών και μεγάλων επιχειρήσεων.

Κατά τη θητεία του, έδωσε έμφαση στον εξορθολογισμό των δαπανών και στην ομαλοποίηση του προγράμματος πληρωμών του Οργανισμού με άμεσο αποτέλεσμα την μείωση του χρόνου αναμονής για αποζημίωση στις περισσότερες κατηγορίες παρόχων σε διάστημα μικρότερο των 90 ημερών. Η βελτίωση των οικονομικών στοιχείων του Οργανισμού είχε σημαντική επίπτωση στην απομείωση των ληξιπρόθεσμων υποχρεώσεων του Οργανισμού αλλά και του Ελληνικού Κράτους. Συγκεκριμένα, κατά τη θητεία του οι ληξιπρόθεσμες οφειλές του Οργανισμού μειώθηκαν απο περίπου 2,0 δισ. ευρώ στις αρχές του 2016, σε 0,2 δισ. ευρώ στο τέλος του 2018, μείωση περίπου 90%). Παράλληλα, εφάρμοσε καινοτόμες λύσεις με βάση τεχνολογία αιχμής, προκειμένου να επιτευχθεί η ανάδειξη του Οργανισμού, ως σύγχρονου, κοινωνικά ευαίσθητου χρηματοοικονομικού Οργανισμού, με καινοτόμα χαρακτηριστικά.

Θέσεις σε Διεθνείς Οργανισμούς. Την άνοιξη του 2018 εκλέχτηκε Πρόεδρος του οργανισμού European Healthcare Fraud & Corruption Network (EHFCN), ο οποίος ιδρύθηκε το 2005 και εδρεύει στις Βρυξέλλες και έχει ως αποστολή την καταπολέμηση της σπατάλης και της απάτης στην υγεία, διασφαλίζοντας τη συνολική βελτίωση των αντίστοιχων Εθνικών Συστημάτων, προς όφελος κάθε ασθενούς. Μέλη του EHFCN είναι κρατικοί και ιδιωτικοί φορείς ασφάλισης (ενδεικτικά ο εθνικός ασφαλιστικός φορέας του Βελγίου, ο Γαλλικός Εθνικός Φορέας για την Ασφάλιση Μισθωτών που καλύπτει το 91% του πληθυσμού της χώρας, κ.α.).

Βραβεία. Σημαντική αναγνώριση των αποτελεσμάτων και των καινοτομιών που εφαρμόστηκαν κατά τη θητεία του στον Εθνικό Οργανισμό Παροχής Υπηρεσιών Υγείας, όσον αφορά τον εξορθολογισμό και τον έλεγχο των δαπανών καθώς και την βελτίωση των παρεχόμενων υπηρεσιών Υγείας αποτέλεσε η λήψη του βραβείου «Best Manager Award» για το 2018 από το European Network for Business and Industry Statistics (ENBIS). Πρόκειται για σημαντική διάκριση καθώς για πρώτη φορά το βραβείο αυτό απονεμήθηκε σε Έλληνα και πρώτη φορά για δραστηριότητα στο πλαίσιο του δημόσιο τομέα. Το βραβείο «Best Manager Award» έχει θεσμοθετηθεί από το ENBIS που αποτελεί ανεξάρτητο Οργανισμό, με έδρα το Άμστερνταμ, με σκοπό την προαγωγή της χρήσης στατιστικών μεθόδων προς όφελος της Ευρωπαϊκής βιομηχανίας και επιχειρήσεων. Το συγκεκριμένο βραβείο απονέμεται σε managers επιχειρήσεων, βιομηχανιών και οργανισμών οι οποίοι επιτυγχάνουν σημαντικούς στόχους κάνοντας ευρεία χρήση στατιστικών και αναλυτικών μεθόδων, διασφαλίζοντας δηλαδή τα αποτελέσματα με την ανάλυση των διαθέσιμων δεδομένων και εν συνεχεία λαμβάνοντας τις βέλτιστες αποφάσεις. Το κρίσιμο σημείο που αναγνώρισε η επιτροπή κρίσης για την απονομή του βραβείου ήταν η προστιθέμενη αξία που δημιούργησε για τον Οργανισμό, αξιοποιώντας τεχνολογία αιχμής σε συνδυασμό με στατιστικές μεθόδους, αναζητώντας τα διαθέσιμα στοιχεία (big data) και επιτυγχάνοντας βέλτιστες αποφάσεις υπό συνθήκες αβεβαιότητας.
