Advanced Manufacturing Technologies & Testing

The Laboratory of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies & Testing (LAM@TT) of Industrial Management & Technology Dept. provides a unique multidisciplinary research and educational environment aiming at the enhancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of New Product Development and Design. LAM@TT engages in Research Projects in the following areas: Product Development & Design, Material Testing & Quality Control, Additive Manufacturing & 3D Printing, and System Analysis. LAM@TT is equipped with up-to-date CAD/CAM/CAE software, specialized equipment for materials testing and quality control, CNC machining equipment and 3D printers.


Production Management Information Systems

The Laboratory of Production Management Information Systemsof the Industrial Management & Technology involved in the study and development of the following scientific areas: (a) expert and decision support systems, (b) data processing and higher level programming and (c) production systems’ applications of artificial intelligence. The Laboratory is equipped with up-to-date hardware and software that is, also, used educationally by students who study the above topics as well as the fields of software development and design (multimedia and internet applications) and that of production/supply chain simulation.


Simulation of Industrial Processes

The scope of the Laboratory is to simulate and analyze industrial processes in order to optimize production based on chemical technology. Education and training focus on process modeling and parameter identification using suitable physical simulators. The Laboratory hosts research activities on analysis of processes (using experimental and computational approaches), process optimization using scale-up and scale-down techniques, investigation of process and product failure (using knowledge-based diagnosis and experimental verification), production of low-cost adsorbents, as well as the development of measuring devices (at bench scale) for industrial production control and environmental assessment.
